Being active is an important part of being healthy, but the thought of doing exercise and fitting it into your day can feel off-putting and add to daily stress. How do you feel about exercise? How does exercise make you feel? If you love exercise and it makes you feel good, that's fantastic. But, if it is just another thing to add to your to-do list, if it brings up bad memories of school PE lessons or you feel like you’ve got to do something you don't enjoy, it can be hard to get motivated (or to find the time to do it). But being fit and healthy doesn't have to mean doing a particular sport or exercise, what about if we focused on movement instead? Why focusing on movement can help you gain momentum Movement can be something that we can do anytime, at our desk, around the house, whilst playing with your children and is something that you can incorporate into your day, so it's not another thing to do, it’s part of what you already do and can be something fun that you will enjoy. Any movement counts, it doesn't have to be a particular sport or activity and it can change every day if you choose, depending on what you are doing. How could you incorporate movement into your day? Do you need to go grocery shopping? Walking around the store involves a lot of movement, playing in the park with your children, do you like dancing around the house whilst cleaning? It's all movement and a great way to get more active. These are all things that we do already and the more fun they are the better. Can you think of one way that you can start to bring more movement into your day? If you need some support with finding ways to incorporate more movement into your day then please contact me to find out more about how I can work with you.
